Spartans Take Down Eagles In CLC Showdown
COLD SPRING -- The ROCORI Spartans baseball team welcomed in a Central Lakes Conference opponent to the Cold Spring Baseball Park on Thursday, April 29, hosting the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles.
In the conference showdown, the Spartans came out on top behind a five-run fourth inning en route to a 10-5 victory at home.
ROCORI ended up tallying one run in the first inning, two in the third inning, five in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth inning to finish with 10 runs on seven hits.
Leading the way for the Spartans at the plate was Brady Linn with two hits, two runs scored and one RBI, Brady Blattner with one hit, two runs scored and two RBI, Tanner Rausch with one hit and two RBI and Luke Humbert with two RBI. Jayden Philippi, Jack Spanier and Connor Clark all added one hit, one run scored and one RBI for ROCORI.
Cole Fuchs got the start on the mound for the Spartans and pitched the first five innings to secure the win. He finished with 10 strikeouts in the contest, giving up five hits, two earned runs and three walks. Connor Clark rounded out the game on the hill with two innings in relief, giving up one hit, no earned runs, no walks and tallying three strikeouts.
With the win, ROCORI improves to 4-3 overall and moves to 3-1 in Central Lakes Conference action this season. The Spartans return to action on Tuesday, May 4 when they host Willmar in a Central Lakes Conference doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
