Spartans Take Down Crush To Remain Undefeated

ST. CLOUD — The ROCORI Spartans baseball team continued the start of the 2024 season on the road on Thursday, April 11, traveling to St. Cloud to face off against the St. Cloud Crush in a Central Lakes Conference contest.

Similar to what we saw in the victory in the regular season opener earlier in the week, ROCORI's offense was rolling and held its opposition in check, remaining undefeated through two games with a 7-1 win over St. Cloud at the Municipal Athletic Complex.

The Spartans once got on the board first, plating one run in the first inning and adding another in the second. ROCORI broke the game open shortly after, scoring two more runs in the third frame before adding a trio of runs in the fourth inning and shutting down the Crush the rest of the way.

Leading ROCORI at the plate in the win was Tyler Prom, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored. Jace Griffin added two hits and three runs scored, Jack Boos went 2-for-4 with one run scored, and Kaden Rausch, Jacob Stalboerger and Noah Olmscheid each drove in one run for the Spartans.

Stalboerger threw the first four innings on the mound to get the win, giving up just one hit, no earned runs, two walks and striking out four. Boos rounded out the game for ROCORI, giving up no hits, no runs, one walk and striking out three.

With the win, the Spartans improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in Central Lakes Conference play to conclude the first week of the regular season. Next up for ROCORI is another conference road game, opening the new week with a battle against Sartell at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16 at St. Cloud Orthopedic Field in Sartell.
