Spartans Stomp Storm In Conference Showdown
COLD SPRING -- The ROCORI Spartans baseball team returned home to face off against Sauk Rapids in a Central Lakes Conference showdown in Cold Spring on Tuesday, May 18.
Entering the game having won four of its last five games, ROCORI extended its winning ways against Sauk Rapids, taking down the Storm 9-1 behind a balanced attack at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
To lead the Spartans at the plate, Jack Spanier went 2-for-4 with three RBI, Connor Clark went 2-for-2 with one run scored and Jayden Philippi went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Brady Blattner, Brady Linn and Tanner Rausch all added one hit and one RBI each in the game.
Cole Fuchs threw six solid innings on the mound to grab the win for the Spartans, finishing with six innings of work to grab the win. Fuchs gave up just four hits, one run, two walks and struck out three. Linn pitched the final inning in relief, giving up no hits, no runs, no walks and striking out one.
With the win, ROCORI improved to 7-4 in CLC action on 9-6 overall on the year. The Spartans have also won five of their last six games going into the final three games of the regular season schedule.
ROCORI will return to action on Thursday, May 20, traveling to face Sartell at St. Cloud Orthopedic Field in Sartell.
