Spartans Split CLC Doubleheader With Storm
SAUK RAPIDS — The ROCORI Spartans opened up a busy week that consists of five games in five days by hitting the road to face the Sauk Rapids Storm on Tuesday, May 14 in a Central Lakes Conference doubleheader.
In the pair of contests at Bob Cross Field, ROCORI and Sauk Rapids split the doubleheader, with the Spartans taking Game 1 and the Storm evening things out with a Game 2 victory.
In Game 1, ROCORI pulled out in front late, tallying two runs in the sixth inning and four in the seventh to take the first game by a score of 10-5.
Jack Boos went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored, Tyler Prom went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored and Hunter Fuchs added one hit and two RBI to lead the Spartans at the plate. Jace Griffin, Jacob Stalboerger and Max Fredin each added a hit for ROCORI.
On the mound, Fuchs got the win while pitching 6.2 innings, giving up one earned run, two walks and striking out two. Kaden Rausch recorded the final out in relief.
In Game 2, Sauk Rapids responded with a 13-0 victory to earn a split of the doubleheader.
ROCORI tallied three hits in the game, coming courtesy of Jack Boos, Jacob Stalboerger and Zander Folkerts.
Max Fredin pitched the first 4.1 innings on the mound for the Spartans, giving up two earned runs, two walks and striking out five. Boos tallied 2.2 innings in relief, giving up four hits, one earned run and recording one strikeout.
With the split of the doubleheader, ROCORI moves to 7-7 overall on the season and 6-6 in CLC action. The Spartans get back onto the field on May 16 when they travel to face Fergus Falls in a conference battle at DeLagoon Park in Fergus Falls.
