Spartans Outlast Otters In Victory At Home



COLD SPRING — The ROCORI Spartans baseball team remained at home on Thursday, April 25, welcoming in another Central Lakes Conference opponent while facing the Fergus Falls Otters for the first time of the season.


The Spartans outlasted the Otters with a solid offensive performance and shut-down pitching, taking the conference battle by a score of 6-2.


With the game tied 1-1 entering the fourth inning, ROCORI broke the game open with a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth frames to jump out in front of Fergus Falls and not look back for another home victory.


Hunter Fuchs led the way for the Spartans at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Kaden Rausch and Noah Olmscheid finished 2-for-3 with one RBI a piece, while Jack Boos and Jace Griffin each added one hit and one run scored.


On the mound, Rausch put on a show while earned a complete-game victory. The senior gave up just eight hits, one earned run, no walks and struck out five en route to his first win of the year.


With the victory, the Spartans move back above the .500 mark, improving to 4-3 overall and 4-3 in CLC action. Next up for ROCORI is a section showdown against Little Falls at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, April 29 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
