Spartans Fall To Royals In Regular Season Finale

COLD SPRING -- The ROCORI Spartans baseball team put a bow on the regular season schedule on Wednesday, May 26 at home against Rogers in a nonconference contest.

The Spartans ended up falling to the Royals 8-3 in the regular season finale at the Cold Spring Baseball park, now shifting the focus to the Section 8-3A Playoffs starting Monday, May 31.

In the game, Joel Sowada led the way at the plate for ROCORI, finishing 3-for-3 with a double, one run scored and one RBI. Carter Thelen and Brady Linn each added one hit and one RBI, while Jack Spanier, Brady Blattner and Connor Clark all finished with one hit a piece.

Linn started the game on the hill for the Spartans, throwing the first 3 2/3 innings while giving up five hits and just one earned run. Nick Howen threw one inning in relief, follwed by Blattner pitching the final 2 1/3 innings on the mound.

With the conclusion of the regular season, ROCORI heads into the postseason after compiling a Central Lakes Conference record of 10-4, ending the year with an overall record of 12-8.
