Spartans Come Up Short Against Flyers, 6-2




COLD SPRING — The ROCORI Spartans kicked off the final week of the regular season with a home contest against Little Falls in a Section 8-3A battle.


In the first of three straight days of games, ROCORI dropped the contest 6-2 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.


The Flyers jumped out in front in the early innings of the game, taking a 6-0 advantage after three innings. The Spartans brought home one run in the fourth and another in the seventh, but weren't able to complete a comeback.


Kaden Rausch went 2-for-3 with one RBI and Jack Boos went 2-for-4 to lead ROCORI at the plate. Jacob Stalboerger and Jace Griffin each added one hit and one run scored.


On the mound, Hunter Fuchs threw the first three innings, giving up six hits, four earned runs and striking out two. Boos appeared in the final four innings in relief, giving up just one hit, no runs, two walks and striking out seven.


With the loss, the Spartans fall to 9-9 overall on the season and remain at 6-7 in Central Lakes Conference play. ROCORI will round out the regular season by hosting St. Francis on May 21 and Sartell on May 22.
