Spartans Blow Out Warriors In Conference Showdown
COLD SPRING -- The ROCORI Spartans baseball team continued their stretch of home games to round out the regular season on Wednesday, May 25 while hosting the Brainerd Warriors in a rescheduled conference contest.
ROCORI's offense once again exploded for the second night in a row, blowing out Brainerd 17-4 in the Central Lakes Conference game at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
The Spartans kicked off the game with seven runs in the bottom half of the first inning, adding one run in the second inning, four in the third inning and five more in the fourth inning to take the game with 17 runs on 11 hits in five innings.
Peyton Randall went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI, Brady Schafer went 2-for-2 with two RBI and Jack Spanier went 1-for-1 with three walks, three runs scored and two RBI to lead ROCORI at the plate. Beck Loesch and Brady Blattner each had one hit, two runs scored and one RBI, and Joel Sowada and Chandler Dumonceaux added one hit and one RBI apiece for the Spartans.
On the mound, Cole Fuchs pitched five innings to grab the complete-game victory for ROCORI. Fuchs gave up four earned runs, two walks and struck out seven en route to the win.
With the victory, the Spartans improved to 11-7 overall this season and finish conference play at 7-6 on the year.
ROCORI will conclude the regular season schedule on Thursday, May 26 when Little Falls comes to Cold Spring to face the Spartans at 5 p.m. at the Cold Spring Baseball Park. The Section 8-3A Playoffs will kick off on May 31 and the opponent and location will be announced after the regular season.
