ROCORI Tops Red Wing To Begin Weekend Trip




RED WING — The ROCORI Spartans hit the road for their annual weekend trip, kicking off two straight days of games with a battle against Red Wing on Friday, May 17.


ROCORI came out on top in the nonconference battle, pulling away with an 8-3 victory.


The Spartans jumped out to a lead early in the game after trailing 2-0 through one inning, bringing home four runs in the second inning and three more in the third to grab the lead and not let up. ROCORI added one more run in the top of the sixth inning en route to a road win.


Hunter Fuchs finished with two RBI, Jacob Stalboerger went 2-for-3 with one run scored and Kaden Rausch recorded a triple, one run scored and one RBI to lead the Spartans at the plate. Jack Boos, Tyler Prom, Jared Laudenbach, Jace Griffin and Noah Olmscheid each added one hit and one RBI for ROCORI.


On the mound, Rausch pitched the first six innings to pick up the win, giving up just six hits and two earned runs while striking out two. Boos threw the final inning in relief, giving up just one hit with one strikeout.


With the win, ROCORI improved to 8-8 overall on the season and remained at 6-7 in Central Lakes Conference action. The Spartans get back to the field on May 18 when they conclude the weekend trip with a battle against New Ulm in Red Wing.
