ROCORI Shuts Down Alexandria To Advance In Section Playoffs



ALEXANDRIA — The ROCORI Spartans continued on in the Section 8-3A Playoffs on Thursday, May 30, traveling to take on the top-seeded Alexandria Cardinals in the Section Quarterfinals.


The fourth-seeded Spartans remained hot to begin the postseason, not only going into Alexandria and upsetting the Cardinals, but shutting them out with a 5-0 victory.


With the win, ROCORI advances to the Section 8-3A Semifinals, where it will face the third-seeded Little Falls Flyers on June 4 at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud.


In the win over Alexandria, ROCORI tallied one run in the third and fourth innings, breaking the game open in the fifth inning with a trio of runs that put the game out of reach.


Leading the way for the Spartans was Jacob Stalboerger on the mound, recording a complete-game win while giving up just four hits, no runs, four walks and striking out seven. Stalboerger also finished 1-for-3 at the plate in the victory.


Behind Stalboerger, Hunter Fuchs went 1-for-3 with two RBI, Tyler Prom, Jared Laudenbach and Caleb Maddox all had one hit and one RBI each, and Jack Boos and Tyler Prom both tallied one hit for ROCORI.
