ROCORI Pulls Ahead Late To Top St. Cloud
ST. CLOUD -- The ROCORI Spartans baseball team bounced back in a big way in a road contest against St. Cloud on Tuesday, May 10 at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud.
ROCORI came from behind and went on a run late in the Central Lakes Conference game to come away with a 7-5 victory over the Crush.
The Spartans kicked the scoring off in the game with one run in the top of the third inning to grab a 1-0 lead. St. Cloud then answered back with two runs in the fifth inning before ROCORI stepped on the gas over the final two frames. The Spartans finished with three runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings and held off St. Cloud to take the contest.
Brady Blattner went 2-for-4 with three RBI, Beck Loesch went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Joel Sowada went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI to lead ROCORI at the plate. Jack Spanier added two hits and one run scored and Peyton Randall finished with one hit and one RBI for the Spartans, who finished with 12 hits as a team.
On the mound, Blattner threw all seven innings to notch a complete-game win for ROCORI. Blattner gave up six hits, two earned runs, three walks and struck out seven en route to the victory.
With the win, ROCORI improves to 6-3 in conference play and 6-3 overall on the season. The Spartans return to action on Thursday, May 12 when they take on Brainerd in a Central Lakes Conference doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
