ROCORI Falls To Sartell To See Season End In Section Championship
ST. CLOUD -- After an impressive run to reach the Section 8-3A Championship, the ROCORI Spartans baseball team took on top-seeded Sartell in the section championship on Thursday, June 10.
ROCORI, coming out of the losers bracket, needed to take down the Sabres twice in order to advance to state. Sartell, coming out of the winners bracket, needed just one win to move onto the state tournament.
Unfortunately for the Spartans, they weren't able to defeat the Sabres at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud to advance to the state tournament, falling to Sartell 8-2.
With the loss, ROCORI's season and hopes of reaching state came to a close, while Sartell moves onto the Class 3A State Tournament.
In the game, Brady Linn went 1-for-2 with one run scored and one RBI and Connor Clark went 1-for-3 with one RBI to lead the Spartans at the plate. Tanner Rausch and Cam Miller added one hit a piece.
Clark started the game on the mound for ROCORI, giving up just six hits, no earned runs and recording one strikeout over three innings of work. Nick Howen threw 1 2/3 innings in relief and Fuchs pitched the final 1 1/3 innings for the Spartans.
Now with the season complete, ROCORI concludes the 2021 year with an overall record of 15-10. Congratulations to the entire team on a great season!
