ROCORI Falls To Alexandria In Section Tournament, Returns To Action June 8
COLD SPRING -- The ROCORI Spartans baseball team returned home to continue on in the Section 8-3A Playoffs on Thursday, June 1, taking on the Alexandria Cardinals in the winners bracket portion of the section tournament.
The fourth-seeded Spartans played host to the fifth-seeded Cardinals, falling in the second round of the winners bracket by a score of 6-3 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
In the game, ROCORI kicked things off with three runs in the first inning at home, before Alexandria tallied four runs in the third inning and one run in each the fifth and sixth innings to come back and take the game.
Joel Sowada went 2-for-3 with one RBI and Jack Spanier went 2-for-4 with one run scored to lead the Spartans at the plate. Brady Blattner and Brady Linn each finished with one hit, while Tanner Rausch and Cam Miller each drove in one run.
On the mound, Cole Fuchs got the start, pitching the first six innings and giving up one earned run. Fuchs finished with allowing six hits and one walk while tallying one strikeout. Linn pitched the final inning in relief, it being a shutout inning with one strikeout.
With the loss, ROCORI drops into the losers bracket and will return to action on Tuesday, June 8 at 1:30 p.m. at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, facing off against No. 2 Bemidji. The winner of that game will advance to play again at 4 p.m. at Joe Faber Field.
