ROCORI Falls to Alexandria in Conference Contest
ALEXANDRIA — The ROCORI Spartans kicked off the final season of the regular season on May 22 while facing a Central Lakes Conference on the road.
In a rescheduled game from earlier in the season, ROCORI dropped a conference contest to Alexandria 8-5 at Knute Nelson Field in Alexandria.
The Cardinals broke a 1-1 tie in the third inning, tallying two runs in the bottom half of the third frame while plating five more in the fourth inning. The Spartans brought home one run in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth but couldn't quite complete the comeback.
Brady Schafer went a perfect 3-for-3 to lead ROCORI at the plate, with Brady Weber added one hit and two RBI, Thad Lieser adding one hit and one RBI and Jack Spanier finishing with one hit in the game.
On the mound, Beck Loesch pitched the first 3 2/3 innings while giving up six hits, one earned run and striking out two. Logan Bauer pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, giving up three hits, no runs and one walk.
With the loss, ROCORI fell to 11-7 overall on the season while dropping to 8-5 in CLC action. The Spartans will round out the regular season schedule with two more road games, traveling to Little Falls at 5 p.m. on May 23 before taking on Willmar at 3 p.m. May 25.
