COLD SPRING — The ROCORI Spartans rounded out another week in the regular season at home on Friday, April 25, hosting their first nonconference contest of the new year.
In what turned out to be a pitchers' duel, ROCORI edged past Hutchinson 2-1 to extend the Spartans' winning streak to three in a row.
ROCORI got on the board first in the game, plating the first run in the bottom of the second inning. The Spartans added their second and final run in the fifth inning and held Hutchinson to one run in the top of the sixth frame to pull out the victory.
At the plate, Caleb Maddox finished 1-for-2 with one RBI and two steals, followed by Nolan VanLoy and Jake Stalboerger each recording one hit and one run scored and Jace Griffen recording the other hit in the game.
Tyler Prom pitched a gem on the mound, earning a complete-game win while pitching all seven innings and giving up just five hits, one run, two walks and striking out four.
With the win, ROCORI improves to 4-2 overall and remains 3-2 in Central Lakes Conference action. Next up for the Spartans is a nonconference battle against Detroit Lakes at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
