ROCORI Drops First Game Of Season To Sartell
COLD SPRING -- The ROCORI Spartans baseball team opened up play at the Cold Spring Baseball Park on Thursday, April 22, their first home contest of the 2021 high school baseball season.
ROCORI welcomed in the Sartell Sabres in a Central Lakes Conference showdown, with Sartell coming away with a 16-5 win over ROCORI.
In the game, the Spartans got on the board first, tallying one run in the first inning and following it up with four runs in the second inning. ROCORI finished the contest with a total of seven hits for five runs.
Leading the way for the Spartans at the plate was Brady Linn, who went 1-for-1 with a home run and two RBI. Connor Clark went 2-for-2 with one run scored and one RBI, Carter Thelen went 1-for-2 with a run scored and one RBI and Brady Blattner, Tanner Rausch and Peyton Randall all added a hit for ROCORI.
Linn took the hill to start the game on the mound for the Spartans, throwing three inning and getting tagged with the loss. Cam Miller pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief, followed by Nick Howen who pitched the final 1 1/3 innings in relief.
With the loss, ROCORI fell to 2-1 on the year in both the Central Lakes Conference and overall standings. The Spartans return to action on Friday, April 23 when they remain at home to host Detroit Lakes at 3:15 p.m. at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
