ROCORI Drops CLC Contest Against Alexandria

COLD SPRING — The ROCORI Spartans returned home to welcome in the Alexandria Cardinals for a Central Lakes Conference contest on Thursday, May 9 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.

In the second-to-last regular-season home game of the year, which also happened to be ROCORI's annual Youth Night, the Spartans dropped the conference battle by a score of 6-2.

The Spartans got on the board in the fourth inning, bringing home one run in the frame followed by another run in the fifth. That late-game push ended up not being enough for ROCORI to even the game up at home.

Jacob Stalboerger led the way for the Spartans with one hit and one RBI, followed by Zander Folkerts with one RBI. Tyler Prom, Kaden Rausch and Noah Olmscheid each tallied one hit a piece at the plate.

On the mound, Hunter Fuchs threw the first three innings, giving up one earned run, two walks and recording two strikeouts. Max Fredin pitched the final four innings in relief, giving up just three hits, no runs, two walks and striking out five.

With the loss, ROCORI dropped to 5-6 overall on the season while moving to 4-5 in Central Lakes Conference play. Next up for the Spartans is another CLC battle, this time against Brainerd at 5 p.m. on May 10 in Brainerd.
