ROCORI Concludes Regular Season With A Win

WILLMAR — The ROCORI Spartans wrapped up the 2023 regular season with a convincing Central Lakes Conference victory over the Willmar Cardinals on May 25 in Willmar.

The Spartans jumped out to a lead early and didn't step off the gas while ten-running the Cardinals en route to a 14-4 victory.

ROCORI's offense exploded immediately in the conference contest, bringing home six runs in the first and third innings while adding one run in the second and fifth innings behind 10 total hits.

At the plate, John Kinzer went 1-for-1 with three RBI, Beck Loesch went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI, Jack Spanier went 2-for-4 with one run scored and Evan Acheson, Brady Weber and Thad Lieser each added one hit and two RBI for ROCORI. Brady Schafer, Hunter Heidgerken and Kaden Rausch also brought home one run each for the Spartans.

On the mound, Acheson pitched the first four innings to pick up the win. He gave up jus three hits, three runs and three walks while striking out six. Rausch tossed the final inning in relief, giving up one hit, no earned runs, no walks and striking out two.

With the win, ROCORI concludes the regular season with a record of 12-8 overall and 9-5 in Central Lakes Conference play. Next up for the Spartans is the start of the Section 8-3A Playoffs, which begins May 30.
