Pair Of Home Runs Lift ROCORI Over Brainerd
BRAINERD — The ROCORI Spartans rounded out a busy week with the second Central Lakes Conference contest in two days, hitting the road to face the Brainerd Warriors on Friday, May 10 in a game that was rescheduled earlier in the season due to weather.
Behind a pair of home runs, the Spartans cruised past the Warriors 9-1 at Brainerd High School.
ROCORI got on the board first in the contest, bringing across three runs in the first inning followed by three more in both the third and fourth frames. The Spartans held the Warriors in check the rest of the way to come out victorious.
Max Fredin and Jacob Stalboerger each homered in the game to lift ROCORI at the plate. Fredin finished 1-for-3 with three RBI and Stalboerger ended 1-for-4 with two RBI. Kaden Rausch went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI, while Jack Boos added one hit and two runs scored and Noah Olmscheid finished with one hit and one run scored for ROCORI.
Stalboerger also provided the Spartans with a lift on the mound, earning the win while giving up four hits, one run, two walks and striking out five over the first six innings. Rausch pitched the final frame in relief, giving up one hit, no runs and no walks.
With the win, ROCORI improved to 6-6 overall on the season while improving to 5-5 in Central Lakes Conference action. Next on the schedule for the Spartans is a conference doubleheader against Sauk Rapids on May 14 at Bob Cross Field in Sauk Rapids.
