Fuchs, ROCORI Take Down Alexandria To Remain Undefeated
COLD SPRING -- Second game of the year, second win of the year for the ROCORI Spartans baseball team. After opening up the regular season with a win over St. Cloud on April 19, ROCORI followed it up with another win on Thursday, April 21 in Cold Spring.
The Spartans welcomed in the Alexandria Cardinals to the Cold Spring Baseball Park for a Central Lakes Conference showdown, coming away with a 1-0 victory while giving up just three hits in another shutout performance. Through two games, ROCORI has yet to allow an opponent to score a run while scoring a combined six runs over those two contests.
In the conference victory, the Spartans scored the lone run in the game during the second inning, when Brady Blattner crossed the plate to give ROCORI enough to pull out the win. At the plate, the Spartans were led by Joel Sowada who went 2-for-3, followed by Jack Spanier, Cole Fuchs and Peyton Randall with one hit each.
On the mound, Fuchs did it all for ROCORI, going the distance while throwing a three-hitter en route to his first win of the season. With a total of 71 pitches over seven innings, Fuchs gave up three hits, no runs, no walks and struck out six in an impressive pitching performance.
With the win, the Spartans improve to 2-0 in Central Lakes Conference action and 2-0 overall. ROCORI returns to action on Monday, April 25 when the Varsity Reserve takes on Delano at 4:30 p.m. at the Cold Spring Baseball Park. The Spartans hit the road for their first road games of the season on Tuesday, April 26 in a doubleheader against Fergus Falls beginning at 4 p.m. at DeLagoon Park.
