ROCORI Falls To Monticello, 5-2
MONTICELLO -- The ROCORI Spartans baseball team dropped a nonconference contest to Monticello on Thursday evening in Monticello.
The Spartans fell to the Magic 5-2 on a perfect evening for baseball at Monticello High School.
ROCORI scored one run in each of the third and fourth innings to hold a 2-1 lead in the game heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, before Monticello scored three runs in the fifth to grab a 4-2 advantage.
The Magic ended up adding one more run in the bottom half of the sixth inning to extend their lead and eventually come away with the win.
Brady Klehr went 2-for-3 with one run scored and Dylan Rausch drove in one run to lead the way for the Spartans at the plate. Jack Steil, Collin Eskew, Brock Humbert and Brady Linn each added one hit in the game.
Nolan Notch pitched all six innings on the mound for ROCORI, giving up just three earned runs, two walks and striking out three.
With the loss, the Spartans drop to 7-8 overall on the season. They remain at 6-4 in Central Lakes Conference competition in 2019.
Next up for ROCORI is a Central Lakes Conference game against St. Cloud Apollo at 7 p.m. Saturday in Sauk Rapids. The game was moved to Sauk Rapids due to weather.
