ROCORI Falls to Grand Rapids 6-4 in 10 Innings
COLD SPRING -- The ROCORI Spartans baseball team fell in a back-and-forth, extra-inning contest on Tuesday night in Cold Spring.
The Spartans dropped a nonconference game to Grand Rapids 6-4 in 10 innings at the Cold Spring Baseball Park in the second straight game is as many days at home.
ROCORI opened the game up by scoring one run in each of the first three innings to take an early 3-0 lead.
Grand Rapids took over the lead with four runs in the top of the fourth inning, before the Spartans evened things back up in the game with one run in the bottom of the sixth. Grand Rapids went on to tally two runs in the top of the 10th inning to ultimately jump out ahead of ROCORI and grab the victory.
Collin Eskew went 2-for-5 with a triple, a double and two RBI, Brady Klehr went 2-for-4 with one RBI and Nolan Notch went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI to lead the Spartans at the plate. Sam Distel added one hit and one run scored in the game.
Brock Humbert started the game on the mound for ROCORI, pitching four innings while giving up just three hits, no earned runs, two walks and striking out one. Rudy Notch and Brady Linn each entered the game in relief to pitch three innings a piece for the Spartans.
Following the loss, ROCORI remains at 3-2 in Central Lakes Conference play and moves to 4-5 overall on the season. Next up for the Spartans is a conference battle against Sartell at 5 p.m. Thursday (May 9) in Sartell.
