ROCORI Falls To Sauk Rapids In Extras, 9-8
COLLEGEVILLE -- Despite bursting out of the gates red hot, the ROCORI Spartans baseball team ultimately fell short to Sauk Rapids in a Central Lakes Conference contest at St. John's University on Thursday afternoon.
The game, which was originally scheduled to be a 5 p.m. contest at Bob Cross Field in Sauk Rapids, was moved to 12:30 p.m. at St. John’s in Collegeville due to playing conditions.
In that game, the Spartans fell in extra innings to the Storm, dropping the game 9-8 in eight innings of action.
ROCORI jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the game, thanks to a nice start on the mound from Brady Klehr and a home run at the plate from Jack Steil.
Sauk Rapids ended up battling its way back into the game to eventually take the conference showdown in extras.
With the loss, ROCORI falls to 0-2 on the season and 0-2 in Central Lakes Conference action on the season. Next up on the schedule for the Spartans is a Central Lakes Conference showdown with St. Cloud Tech on Tuesday, April 23 at 5 p.m. at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
ROCORI is scheduled to have three games this upcoming week, finishing up the week with a road conference game against Fergus Falls on Thursday, April 25 and a home nonconference contest against Academy of Holy Angels on Friday, April 26.
