Illies Named Section 5-3A and Class 3A Coach of the Year in 2018
Jeff Illies, head coach of the Rocori Spartans Baseball team, added to his already impressive resume at the helm of the Spartans in 2018.
Illies, who has led the Rocori baseball program since 2006, was awarded two prestigious state awards following the Spartans' 2018 season this spring, which resulted in a trip to the Class 3A state title game.
In awards that are voted on and decided on by the Minnesota State High School League and the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association, Illies was named the Section 5-3A Coach of the Year, as well as the Class 3A Coach of the Year.
Along with leading Rocori to a 22-6 record and a second-place finish in the Class 3A state tournament, Illies surpassed the 200 career win mark in his tenure with the Spartans in the spring to hold a career record of 215-108. He currently holds the record for most wins by a coach in program history.
Congratulations, coach Illies, on another prestigious honor in 2018!
