Spartans Fall to Warriors, 4-2
COLD SPRING -- The Rocori Spartans baseball team dropped a Central Lakes Conference contest to Brainerd on Tuesday night.
The Spartans fell to the Warriors 4-2 in the final regular season home game at the Cold Spring baseball Park.
Brainerd started off the scoring by tallying two runs in the top of the third inning, before adding two more in the top of the seventh.
Rocori responded with a late-game comeback, scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh inning, but couldn't quite complete the comeback.
Matthew Waletzko went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Spartans. Jack Steil went 2-for-2 with one run scored, Mason Primus went 1-for-3 with a run scored and Dalton Thelen finished 1-for-3.
Brandon Gill took the complete-game loss on the mound for Rocori. He gave up 10 hits, four runs, two walks and stuck out six.
With the loss, the Spartans drop to 7-3 in the conference and 13-4 overall on the season.
Rocori will close out the 2018 regular season on Thursday, when they travel to take on Sauk Rapids at 5 p.m. at Bob Cross Field.
