Spartans Top Storm in Season Opener
COLLEGEVILLE -- After a crazy month of April filled with game postponements, the Rocori Spartans baseball team finally kicked off their 2018 season on Thursday.
Rocori faced Sauk Rapids in the season opener at St. John's University, a game which resulted in the Spartans taking down the Storm 10-4.
Brady Klehr went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored and Jack Steil went 3-for-3 with two runs scored to lead the way for Rocori. Dalton Thelen went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored, while Dylan Tebrake, Brandon Gill, Tylor Schroeder and Reed Ruegemer each added one hit and one RBI for the Spartans (1-0 overall).
Gill recorded the win on the mound in relief for the Spartans. Gill threw two shutout innings, giving up one hit, one walk and striking out three.
The next matchup on the schedule for Rocori currently is a doubleheader against Fergus Falls on Saturday, April 28 back at St. John's University. The first game is scheduled to start at noon, with the second game to follow.
