Athletes Of The Week (May 8-12)
It was a nice week for the Rocori Spartans baseball team, who finished with a record of 3-1 in four games. Let's take a look at the Athletes of the Week from the week:
1. Jordan Barth
Barth led the Rocori offense during the week, going 5-for-13 with a grand slam, one run scored, eight RBI and three stolen bases. On the season, Barth is batting .381 with 13 RBI, 10 runs scored and one home run.
2. William Huls
Huls finished the week 4-for-14 from the plate, recording two doubles, four runs scored and four RBI. This season, Huls is batting .386 with 14 runs scored, nine RBI and a team-best 12 stolen bases.
3. Spartans Pitching Staff
The Rocori pitching staff had a solid week with quality starts from four different pitchers in all four games.
In the May 8 win over Sauk Rapids, Dylan Tebrake pitched six shutout innings to get the win. He gave up five hits, one walk and struck out eight.
On May 9, Brandon Gill and Eli Backes each had nice starts to pick up wins in the doubleheader against Sartell. In Game 1, Gill went six innings, giving up seven hits, three runs, two walks and striking out four. In Game 2, Backes went all seven innings, giving up six hits, one run, no walks and striking out five.
Despite Rocori falling to Alexandria on May 11, Eli Emerson had a nice start to the game. Emerson pitched 4 2/3, receiving a no-decision. He gave up four hits, one run, three walks and struck out three.
Collectively, Rocori's pitching staff holds an ERA of 3.36 this season.
