Athletes Of The Week (May 1-7)
The Rocori Spartans baseball team finished with a 2-1 record in three games from May 1 to May 7 to bring their record to 3-5 in the Central Lakes Conference and 4-5 overall this season.
Let's take a look at the three Athletes of the Week for that stretch:
1. Dylan Tebrake
Tebrake did a little bit of everything for Rocori in three games. At the plate, he went 4-for-9 with two doubles and three RBI. On the mound, he earned a win on May 2 against Alexandria. In that game, he gave up two hits, one run, two walks and struck out seven in 6 1/3 innings.
On the season, Tebrake is batting .276 with four doubles, three runs scored and seven RBI. On the mound, he holds a record of 1-2 with an ERA of 5.77, has given up 15 hits, 11 earned runs, six walks and has 14 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings this season.
2. Eli Backes
Backes made an appearance on the mound in all three games on the week for Rocori. Pitching in relief in each game, Backes held all three opponents scoreless in a total of four innings of work, picking up a win in one of those games. In those four innings on the mound, Backes gave up five hits, no runs, no walks and struck out three.
On the season, Backes has appeared in seven games, pitching in relief in six of the seven games. Holding a record of 1-1, Backes has an ERA of 1.94 in a team-high 18 innings. He has given up 18 hits, five earned runs, three walks and struck out 12 on the season.
3. Jordan Barth
Barth had a nice week at the plate for Rocori, finishing 3-for-8 with two doubles, five runs scored and two RBI during the three games.
On the season, Barth is batting .379, which is second on the team behind Williams Huls (.433). He has tallied three doubles, nine runs scored and five RBI in all nine games this year.
