COLD SPRING -- The Rocori Spartans baseball team dodged the storm in two ways Tuesday evening.

In a Central Lakes Conference doubleheader at the Cold Spring Baseball Park, the Spartans powered past the Sauk Rapids Storm in Game 1, winning 12-7.

In the second game, Rocori couldn't quite dodge the storm, as Game 2 was postponed due to rain. A makeup date for the game will be announced at a later date.

The highlight of the win for the Spartans came in the sixth inning, when they tallied seven runs to jump out to a 12-3 lead. The Storm added four runs in the top of the seventh inning, but Rocori eventually came away with the victory.

David Holbrook and Nick Penick led the way for the Spartans. Holbrook finished 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI, while Penick went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI.

Grant Thomes went 3-for-4 with two RBI, William Huls went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and Matt Waletzko and Dylan Tebrake each had one hit and one RBI for Rocori, which tallied a total of 15 hits in the game.

Trygve Hanson led Sauk Rapids, going 4-for-4 with three runs scored. Brady Posch added two hits and two RBI for the Storm.

Cordell Lazer took the loss for Sauk Rapids, pitching five innings. He gave up 13 hits, eight runs, one walk and struck out three.

Rocori improves to 2-3 in the Central Lakes Conference and 2-3 overall with the win.
