Athletes Of The Week (April 17-21)
As the second week of the 2017 comes to a close, we a look at the Athletes of the Week for the week of April 17-21. Rocori only played on Tuesday this week, facing Brainerd in a Central Lakes Conference doubleheader, falling in both games.
1. William Huls
Huls built off of his fast start to the 2017 season, going 4-for-7 with two runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases in two games during the week.
On the season, Huls leads Rocori with a .500 batting average (7-for-14) and has scored five runs, driven in two runs, stolen five bases and has just one strikeout.
2. Eli Backes
Backes pitched five shutout innings in relief in a loss to Brainerd in Game 2 of the doubleheader on Tuesday, April 18. Backes, who received a no-decision in the game, gave up three hits, two walks and struck out two.
This season, Backes has appeared in two games, pitching a total of seven innings. In those seven innings, he has allowed five hits, one run, two walks and has struck out four batters while holding an ERA of 1.00.
3. Grant Thomes
Thomes had a nice week for the Spartans, going 3-for-6 with one RBI.
On the season, the senior Thomes is batting .273 with three singles and one RBI, while striking out just once.
